After an incredible response to the Spring Line-up, Motion has delivered yet another killer listing for its summer edition, showcasing a reel of talent for the ultimate events, both day & night. Coupled with the launch of new space Lock Yard, it’s safe to say that we’re in very safe hands this summer.
For those who haven’t heard, Lock Yard is Motion’s newest open-air space which will be hosting (free) parties alongside the canal every Friday throughout the Summer. That’s right, from 5pm-10pm every Friday you can pop along to Motion for a boogie completely free of charge.
The Lock Yard officially launches tonight, 26th May, with Boogie Nights stepping up to kick off proceedings. If you’re not heading down tonight, check out the next one on 2nd June when NRG Boys Present: End Of Term Day ‘n’ Night Party but get your berocca at the ready because you’re in for another belter the following day…
On June 3rd Just Jack host the ‘All Day Partaaay’ in Motion’s other famed outdoor areas, with a quite a convoy in tow… The line-up sees Motor City Drum Ensemble, Shanti Celeste, Beautiful Swimmers, Objekt, DJ Stingray and DJ Nobu. Whilst inside, the party will be continuing with Shapes & Boogie as they host Scuba, Nastia, Deetron, Andy Butler (Hercules & Love Affair), Mr Mendel plus many more acts across three stages.
If DnB is more your thing, pop along to Motion on June 10th for Hospitality’s annual BBQ, which essentially, is a burgers & bass party. They welcome London Elektricity Big Band for a very special live show alongside DnB pioneer Roni Size, Fred V & Grafix, Nu:Logic and S.P.Y.
Fast-forward a week and it’s the turn of Motion’s much loved Summer Solstice party on 17th June. Back by popular demand, the event showcases the very best in local disco and house talent and runs from 1pm right through until 2am.
July gets off to a flying start with Defected stepping up to host on 1st July. You can expect to see the usual suspects including Roger Sanchez, Amine Edge & Dance, Sam Devine, Josh Butler plus a massive special guest yet to be announced.
As we enter August, the listing really gains momentum with potentially some of the biggest events of the entire summer happening, we’ve selected our top 2:
5th August marks a monumental occasion, when Mixmag DJ of the year 2016 and all-round legend, The Black Madonna comes to town. Infamous gay party Bitch, Please! will be in session with residents ZenZero and Amour Ami playing alongside Marquis Hawkes, Mr Price and Em Williams.
One of Motion’s most hotly anticipated events of summer takes place on Augusts 26th, with the inauguration of ‘The Yard’ – Bristol’s first open air club. The space is a collaboration between some of the cities most established dance music institutions. YARD: Open Air Club has caused quite a stir with tickets already on 2nd release, and it’s hardly surprising with a line up featuring the likes of Seth Troxler, Jeff Mills (live), Eats Everything, Joy Orbison, Daniel Avery, Midland, Axel Boman, Octo Octa and Tobias. You seriously don’t want to miss this one – history in the making.
Motion’s continual evolution not only means that, on a selfish level, we’re in for a cracking summer, but on a more global level the venue was recently recognised as the 19th best club in the world – go on Motion.
Check out the full summer listing, and grab your tickets here – don’t miss out on what is set to be Motion’s biggest ever summer.
