For those urbanites among us who are partial to music festival revelry but are perhaps less inclined to be found schlepping in a tent for an entire weekend – look no further, for Citadel could be the perfect destination.
This single day event takes place in one of the capital’s best green spaces, East London’s Victoria Park and is the boutique, indie creation of the team behind Lovebox and Wilderness. Sure, the festival is relatively young in comparison to its peers (it first kicked off back in 2015), but already Citadel has made its mark on the festival scene thanks to its brilliantly curated line-up and noted all-round good vibes.
This year’s line up sees the fantastic Foals (a UK festival exclusive no less) and Bonobo topping the music bill; meanwhile other ones to watch include Wild Beasts, Dan Croll and Maggie Rogers.
Elsewhere if you are feeling creative or fancy some brain food, the festival boasts an Arts & Ideas area, where you can partake in artsy workshops such as “Get Rich or Tie Dying” or delve into a scientific exploration in “Back To School – Chemistry for Beginners”.
Looking for an energetic twist to your music festival experience? Then hit the Workouts & Wellbeing area where you can indulge in an array of unique fitness treats such as “80s Fitness with Frame, “Bounce Back Babe” or “Citadel Aztec – Disco Golf Challenge”.
After you have worked up a sweat, then make sure to try one of the festival’s many delicious food stalls with the likes of Patty & Bun, Notso Sushi & Black Pig Catering all setting up camp in Citadel’s arena.
With all that on offer, there are certainly worse ways to spend a Sunday this summer.
